Sue Ellen blessed many through her song and teaching. She attended Northport Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a graduate of The University of Montevallo where she received a degree in music education. She later completed her master’s in education at The University of Alabama. Much of her life was spent teaching students in Tuscaloosa County schools.
After retirement she dedicated much of her time, being SuSu to her grandchildren and spending time with her loving husband, Jim. Favorite family traditions included the annual beach trip, Camp SuSu, and the many holiday and birthday party celebrations. The foundation of her life was her belief in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She studied her bible daily and shared scripture with family members by text message every morning. A favorite scripture she often shared was “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. For the lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
While she will be greatly missed, we have a promise of hope that we will be reunited with her again one day. “And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13
