I found my way to your husband as a referral from a friend, to build the Alabama Marine Foundation website.  As a veteran, I found this more of a privilege than a job. Over the years, I watched as your husband and his team built an honorable  organization. An organization that contributed to the Marines Corps, Toy for Tots campaign, as well as other notable organizations such as Nicks Kids.  My family and I, want you and your children to know, our prayers are with you and what an privilege it was to work with such an honorable veteran.

Some of my favorite memories of Bill are when we all belonged to Country Club of Tuscaloosa.  Lots of times when we had ABCD scrambles I would be on Bills team.  He was one of the few guys I enjoyed playing with because he was always so nice and was out there to have fun.   I thought it was so great that he could walk the Appalachian Trail in his 60s.  Also it was so great how he always collected toys for under privileged kids at Christmas for Toys for Tots.  My deepest condolences to his family.  Rest in Peace Bill ❤️

Most sincere and  respectful condolences/sympathies to Doris and the Dobbs' family.  Bill was absolute "Salt of the Earth" - a worker - a man who did - a man who always made a positive difference.  Unafraid of challenges he leaned into any and every task and always achieved with superior results.  As a Marine, I was not fortunate to cross paths when we were both on active duty; however, met him when we were both retired and the Tuscaloosa Marine Corps League was standing up (which eventually led to the Alabama Marine Foundation).  Bill was instrumental in the formation of both these organizations and always ready to support any/all endeavors.  Bottom line, Bill was a tremendous Man - Marine - Contributor - a difference maker!  Semper Fi Brother - You will be missed but Thank You for a lifetime of service to mankind. 

So sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. Admired him greatly for ambitions to trek across America and hiking the AT. Great stories and good times. A true gentleman. My prayers are with you and will miss him.

His wonderful laugh! How I loved him even before he was my “official “ uncle. His dedication the Corp and his love of learning. Our summer in Surf City. He was a wonderful Uncle and he will be sorely missed. 

William is survived by his wife, Doris Willkie Dobbs of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and two children: Dana Hazen (Scott) of Pleasant Grove, Alabama; and Monica Hobson of Northport, Alabama. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Chloe Hubbard, Camellia Butterfield (Colby), Logan Caffee, and Harrison Aslami.; and special friends, Denny and Carolyn Dahl.
