

DUNCANVILLE | William C. Farmer Jr., age 91, of Duncanville, died March 12, 2015, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by W.C. and Nettie Bea Farmer; two sisters, Juanita Jones and Jo Van Der Veer; and brother, Jack M. Farmer.Survivors include his wife, Ellen Farmer; special friend and care giver, Martha Henderson; sister, Clara Alley; nephews, Larry Alley (Linda), Johnny Alley, Greg Alley (Nancy), Jeffrey Farmer (Stephanie), and Bill Van Der Veer; and niece, Debra Van Der Veer (Chris).W.C. Farmer served in the United States Navy during World War II as a radio engineer. He attended Florida State University, graduated at Indiana Institute of Technology, and retired as an engineer at Westinghouse in Maryland, He was a world traveler and avid hunter. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Sean Heaton, and Lee Skurka. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Steven Browne and Pam and Alabama Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Duncanville United Methodist Church.
