

TUSCALOOSA Willie Lou Hobson Steele, age 89, of Tuscaloosa, died July 29, 2013, at home. Services will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations with Rev. Billy Gray and Dr. Ken Cheek officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Steele; parents, James Dilbert and Emma Lee Steward Hobson; sisters, Jesse Burt and Flossy LeVert; and brothers, Ward Hobson, JD Hobson, O'Neal Hobson, and Loys Hobson.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Lee Steele of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Mildred Mosley (Paul), Billy Ruth Hess (Dewey), and Jean Stevens (Odes); brothers, Dilbert Hobson (Evelyn) and Bobby Smitherman (Irene); and grandchildren, Kelly Mann (John) and Kristin Kornegay (Lance).
On Monday, July 29, 2013, Willie Lou Hobson Steele, died peacefully in her sleep at home and went to be with the Lord. She was a longtime member of Hopewell Baptist Church and also attended Englewood Baptist Church. She dedicated much of her life to the church and taking care of others. She was a faithful and loving wife to Walter Lee Steele and a wonderful loving mother to Sharon Lee Steele. She loved her family with everything she had. Her grandchildren, Kelly and Kristin were the world to her and her four great-grandchildren; Tyler, Zoe, Dylan and Paisley were the icing on the cake for Willie. She treasured times spent with all of her family and friends. Willie had a sense of humor second to none and a way with words that could lay you in the floor sometimes! She took pride in her many years of gardening and was always quick to share the fruits of her labors. She will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Flowers, Steve Mosley, Lance Kornegay, John Mann, Billy Brown, and Raymond Colburn.
Honorary pallbearers are Gladys McGahey, Helen Berry, Kathy Barnhart, members of Ruth Bible Class at Hopewell Baptist Church, and Hospice of West Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
