Willie D. Vick

Willie Ray Vick, age 98, of Tuscaloosa, died May 3, 2010, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Jarrett Vick and Dr. Tim Lovett officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Vick; daughter, Dot Jones; brothers, Jimmy, W.C. and Herman Ray; sisters, Clifford Welcher, Nellie Sanders and Bobbie Moore; and son-in-law, Ronnie Elkins.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue V. Elkins of Cottondale; son, Jerry Vick (Bonnie) of Cottondale; grandchildren, Jeannie McCool, Donny Jones, Eddie Jones, Karla Dodgen, Jarrett Vick, Doug Elkins and Shari Colburn and son-in-law, Charles Jones.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. “Mamaw” was a wonderful, loving, and caring Christian mother. She was full of joy and laughter and was fun to be with. She is now experiencing another joy. 2 Corinthians 4:18 “We don't look at the trouble we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the trouble we see will soon be over but the joys to come will last forever.” We will miss you and always love you.

Pallbearers will be Donny Jones, Eddie Jones, Billy McCool, Tommy Ray, Charles Brown and Jay Dodgen.

Honorary Pallbearers are Members of Calvary Baptist Church, The Fidelis Sunday School Class and Cottondale Baptist Church, Susan Moore, John and Bobbie Lesley, Martin and Nellie Hagler, Douglas Welcher, Shirley Jones, Billie Collins, Tommy and Ann Ray and families; son-in-law, Charles Jones, friends and employees of Forest Manor Nursing Home, Dr. Ronald McCormick and Greenbriar neighbors.
