Manuel “Meme” De Jesus Sanchez, 75, our beloved brother and uncle passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his home.
He was born on November 17, 1941 in Candela, Coahuila, Mexico to Francisco and Benedicta Mireles Sanchez. Meme was raised in Laredo, Texas and was a resident of Twin Falls, Idaho since 1982. Due to his illness, Meme attended school until the 6th grade; however he was a very intelligent man. He read the encyclopedia and many books because he loved to learn new things, especially history. He enjoyed challenging his knowledge by watching Jeopardy. If he would have been a contestant he would have surely won.
At the age of 16, Meme wrote a song and entered a contest. Although he never received credit, the song hit number 6 on the billboards. The name of the song was, “The Image of a Girl”, sung by the Safari’s.
Meme was a “jokester” and loved teasing and playing around with his nieces and nephews. He was an avid gardener, he had an amazing green thumb and anything he planted flourished. He loved his two special pets, his poodle, “Ginger” and his Chihuahua, “Tito”.
He was loved and respected by his entire family and will be dearly missed.
He leaves behind his sisters, Feliz Sanchez, Benedicta Padilla, Veronica Castillo and his brothers, Arturo (Mary ) Sanchez, Gerardo (Laura) Sanchez all of Twin Falls and Francisco Sanchez, III from Corpus Christi, Texas. He also leaves behind two nieces that he raised as his own daughters, Bernie Rodriguez and Sandra Gonzalez as well as a nephew that he had a very special bond with, Victor Francisco “Hito” Sanchez, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Benedicta Sanchez, a sister, Maria del Rosario “Chayo” Sanchez Mota and two brothers in law, Floyd Padilla and Francisco Castillo.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Hospice Visions, Dr. Laucius, Dr. Hammond and Sav-Mor Drug for the special care of our loved one.
