Cass Audrey Owens

Cass Audrey Owens, age 76, of Gilmer, passed away in the late evening hours of Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 15, 1936 in Beckville, Panola County, Texas to Will Ross and Ruby Lee Lemley Owens; they preceded her in death. Audrey was best known as a people person who could talk away anyone’s worries and share in their joy. In her free time she loved to fish, watch wrestling, and go out to eat. Those who knew her best will remember the love she had for her entire family. She leaves behind a memory of love and compassion that will not soon be forgotten.

Audrey is survived by four children, Sharon Merrill, and husband Thomas, of Baton Rouge, LA, Sylvia Moreland of Gilmer, Rickey Moreland, and wife Julie, of Longview, and Cathey Warlick, and fiancé Brent Tjaden, of Ore City; one brother, Alvin Owens; one sister, Mary Frances Stanley; special daughter, Shirley Mathias; special friend, Billy Sasser; and 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Audrey was also preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Ms. Owens will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 30, 2012 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home with Chaplain Carey Ponder officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery with Scott Wurzbach, John Anthony Wurzbach II, Kenneth Troy Wilson, William Roy Rogers II, and Jason Paul Warlick serving as pallbearers. Caleb Ross Moreland and Christopher Shane Rogers will be serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
