

David was born in Tyler, Texas, and lived most of his life in the Tyler area. He left his earthly life at home near Chandler, Texas, finally free from the pain of cancer and other health problems.
David had a kind heart for animals. He took in strays and usually had several dogs and occasionally a cat to keep him company. He also loved music, played the guitar, and was a member of bands in his earlier years. He played football in high school and always kept up with the Dallas Cowboys. David also enjoyed his go-kart when younger and had an interest in astronomy.
David attended St. Gregory Catholic School and Tyler Catholic High School, but finished his high school education at John Tyler High School in Tyler. He graduated from Tyler Junior College where he studied electronics. He then worked in the electronics field as long as he was able to work.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Francis Schlueter and Patricia Sallie Blackwell Schlueter.
Survivors include his sister and her husband, Salle Ann Schlueter Gill and Robert Monroe Gill, of Christiansburg, Virginia; his nephew Lt. Col. Charles Monroe Gill, US Army, and his wife Charlotte Liebmann Gill with their sons James Stephen and Henry Robert Gill; David’s wife JoAnn Anderson Schlueter along with her four children Chris Dial, Travis Dial and Sandra Baldwin, Michelle Krska, and Louis Krska, eight grandchildren, and five great-children; several cousins; and friends. Special thanks to those who cared for David recently, Sandra Baldwin and Travis Dial.
In David’s memory, he would ask you to be kind to each other and to animals. If you wish to contribute to a charity that supports animals in need, he would appreciate that.
A funeral service will be held at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home - Cemetery & Mausoleum, located at 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler, Texas, 75704. The service is scheduled for February 27, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
