

Connie Hinderliter Crotty, 77, passed away on March 14, 2026. She was born on July 17, 1948, in Kingman, Kansas, to Dan and Edie Beth Hinderliter and was raised in Wichita, Kansas.Connie had a way of making everyone feel seen, loved, and cared for. Whether through a conversation, a prayer, or a simple act of kindness, she reflected Christ in the way she lived each day. Her home was always open, her heart even more so, and her presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.
Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured herself into every moment with them. From everyday conversations to special celebrations, she created a life filled with love, laughter, and deep connection. The legacy she leaves lives on not only in her children and grandchildren, but in the countless lives she touched along the way.Connie lived her life with unwavering faith and quiet strength. She trusted the Lord in every season and modeled what it means to walk faithfully with Him. Her life was a testament to grace, perseverance, and a deep, abiding love for Jesus that continues to inspire all who knew her.Connie had a deeply nurturing spirit and a gift for caring for others in a way that made everyone feel loved and at home. She cared for others with a tenderness and instinctively knew how to comfort, encourage, and support those around her. She gave of herself freely and joyfully. Whether through her words, her presence, or her actions, she created a sense of home wherever she was. That nurturing love will continue to live on in all those she touched.Connie had a deep love for children. She and John were overjoyed to adopt their son, Daniel, who was an incredible gift to their family. In the Lord’s perfect timing, Connie soon became pregnant just months later and welcomed their precious daughter,Jill. John, Daniel, and Jill were the center of Connie’s world. She loved them deeply and fiercely, and that love only grew with the addition of her four grandchildren—Sammy, Henry, Emerson, and Hugh. Connie poured her heart into raising her children and found immense joy in loving and spoiling her grandchildren in ways only a grandmother can.The Crotty family eventually made their home in Tyler, where they became deeply involved in the Living Alternatives ministry through their church. It was there that they began fostering children, opening their home to the first of 26 babies in what became lovingly known as Connie Care.The foundation of Connie’s life—as a woman, wife, mother, and grandmother—was her relationship with Jesus. Everything she did was an extension of that faith. Her love for others was rooted in her love for the Lord, and to know her was to feel both her unwavering faith and her nurturing, compassionate heart.Connie’s nurturing spirit was evident in everything she did. She cared for others with a tenderness that made people feel safe, known, and deeply loved. She instinctively offered comfort and encouragement, pouring herself out for those around her with joy. Her love was steady and selfless, a reflection of the deep compassion she carried for her family and all who were blessed to know her.Her faith in Jesus was evident to all who knew her, and now that faith has been made sight. She is now absent from the body and face to face with the Lord! She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-three years, John; her son, Daniel Crotty and wife Sarah, and their children, Sammy and Henry of Dallas, Texas; and her daughter, Jill Gathmann and husband Aaron, and their children, Emerson and Hugh of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathy Mendenhall of Wichita, Kansas; Sharon Shaver and her husband, Don, of Denver, Colorado; and Carol and her husband, Randi, of Wichita, Kansas; her brother-in-law, Bobby Crotty and wife Sarah of Dallas, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
