survived by his twin sister Jenell Camp. His children: Lynn Kolb and husband Jon, and Michael
Camp, wife Cynthia. His wife Suzanne Camp, and her Children Elizabeth Alexander, Crystal
Symes and husband Rodney, Lynn Huck, Amanda Bragg, Heather Williams, and husband
Chris, Bruce Bragg Jr, Matthew Bragg and wife Amanda, 21 grandchildren and 3 great
grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by 1st wife Vickie Camp, son David Camp and siblings Richard Strong,
Durene Strong, Leo Strong, Johnie Strong, Dorthy Newman, Joe Strong, Betty Thamm.
Jerry was born on August 14th 1944 in Newton Texas to Joe Cornelius and Evie Strong, and
soon adopted by his aunt and uncle Grace and George Camp from New Diana. He graduated
from New Dianna High School in 1963. He married Vickie Jean Horn, his high school
sweetheart in 1964. The couple welcomed three children into their home. After Vickie's passing
he then married Suzanne Bragg, and loved her and her family until his death. Jerry proudly
served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Mercer, U.S.S. Ranger, and the Mobile Riverine Force
Ft-117 during his stent as a Mobile Riverine, he contracted agent orange in the Vietnam War.
He later found out he had mesothelioma.
Jerry was a forklift manager, and an accomplished mechanic. He enjoyed fixing things, hunting
and fishing. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. His family and friends
remember him as a loving and generous man. All the while saying, "I think I can do it" and did.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 5th from 6-8 PM at Tyler Memorial Cemetery, 12053
Hwy 64 West in Tyler. A funeral is scheduled for 10 AM, September 6th at Tyler Memorial
Cemetery. Rodney Symes III Jerry's son in law will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to
attend and celebrate Jerry’s life. A funeral reception will be held at Tyler Christian Fellowship
3421 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler Tx 75701. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice
