Joe was a loving and dedicated husband,father, grandfather, son and brother.
He married the love of his life Ethel on December 20, 1965.
Joe proudly and honorably served as a Marine in the Vietnam War. He later had a career in the oil field until his retirement. On June 9, 1970 he welcomed a daughter Cathy. Once again on August 22 1974 against all objections of his golden child, welcomed sons Dennis and Darin. Then surprise on June 3, 2003 his grand-daughter Emilee was born who he lovingly called Toot. During this time it was rumored he had changed a diaper or two. To my dad that was most important to him was how truly truly proud to be Emilee's grandfather.
Our dad was known to go fishing with the family and more importantly was to bowl a good game.
Throughout his life first and foremost we, his family always came first.
We will always miss our dad who was the rock of the family.
Rest in peace daddy and know you will be loved now and always. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Ethel, his parents Robert and Zelma York and brother Wayne York.
He is survived by children, Cathy and Craig Minor, sons Dennis and Darin York, sister Bobby Jernigan and brother Jimmy and Brenda York.
A visitation for Joe will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home - Cemetery & Mausoleum, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler, TX 75704.
Joe will be laid to rest in Tyler Memorial Park Mausoleum, Tyler, TX.
