John McKerihan Dandois

John McKerihan Dandois, Sr. age 90, of Athens, Texas passed away on February 21, 2019 at The Hospice of East Texas. He was born May 18, 1928 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Frank Leon Dandois and Susanna Faith McKerihan, both of Pennsylvania.

John served in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952. Then he attended the University of Houston, where he met his wife Evelyn Ann Whitesides. They were married 37 years when she passed in May 1991. They had three children, Nola Susanna Pike, John M. Dandois Jr. and Marie Annette Brown.

John had a long career, 36 years, as an airline mechanic and was a member of IAM. Later in life he met and married Linda F. McLauchlin who preceded him in death. John’s greatest joy was time spent with his family. He was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Athens, Texas.

Besides being survived by his children, he has 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, G.F. Dandois and sisters, Helen Symons and Faith Miller.

Donations may be made in his memory to The Hospice of East Texas or the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Athens at 2:00 p.m. on March 9th.
