Johnny Flowers, 93, of Flint passed away on Sunday, January 21. He was born on January 21, 1925 in Denton County, Texas to Eunice and James Flowers. In 1942 at the age of 17 Johnny joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Rockaway which was instrumental in the D-Day landing in France. When he returned from the military Johnny worked in the construction industry retiring as a cement contractor in California and Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his five siblings. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and caretaker Barbara Mather.
Visitation will take place at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home on January 24, from 6-8PM. Celebration of life service will take place at Tyler Seventh-day Adventist Church on January 25, at 10AM. He will be laid to rest at Salem Cemetery in Alba. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the church.
