Joseph Greer passed away on Thursday October 17, 2024, in Tyler. He was born April 19, 1942, in Chandler, Texas to the late Harley Joseph Greer and Noble Fay Stewart. He attended Tyler High School. He served in the Air Force doing one tour in Vietnam. He worked many years for Acme Map Co. and retired from Carrier Inc. He was lead guitarist for local bands in the 70’s-90’s, most noted was a band called “The Bandanna’s”. He enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, model airplanes and gun range shooting. He was a loving husband, uncle and brother.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Ann Hortman Greer. He is survived by a bother, Dewayne Greer and wife Paula; sister, Patricia Ann Greer Carney; sister-in-law, Dona Broome; brother-n-law, Skip Hortman and wife Patti; and by nieces and nephews, Connie Wood, Chuck Hortman, James Hortman III, Jason Broome and Crystal Rainey, and by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of one’s own choice in Mr. Greer’s name.
A graveside service for Joseph will be held Monday, October 21, 2024 at 10:00am at Tyler Memorial Park, located at 12053 State Hwy 64, Tyler, TX 75704.
