

Wayne Dawson, 75, of Tyler, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015 in Tyler. Wayne, a retired Draftsman for Trane, was born on April 30, 1940 in San Angelo to Martin and Doris Dawson. He grew up and attended school in Longview, graduating from Spring Hill High School in 1958. Following high school he attended Kilgore College, graduating in 1960. He then enlisted in the Army and served from 1960-1963; serving most of his active duty time in Heidelberg, Germany. He began working for General Electric (later Trane) in 1963. In 1965 he met Shelia Ann Wintters and they married on June 3, 1966 in Red Springs. They made their home in Tyler. He retired in 2002. He enjoyed gardening and was known for making terrific beef jerky.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Shelia Dawson of Tyler; sons, Jeff, and his wife, Lonnette Dawson of Chandler; Kevin and his wife, Allyson Dawson of Chapel Hill; daughter, Alicia and her husband Shawn Gonter of Tyler; brother, Larry and his wife Patricia Dawson of Canton; sister, June and her husband, Raymond Pruitt of Canton; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 5, 2015, also at the funeral home with Reverend David Mahfood officiating. Interment will follow in Red Springs Cemetery in Tyler.
