

Memorial Services for Mary Zula Franklin Howard, age 78, of Flint will be held at 2pm Thursday at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Jay Lockhart officiating, with a reception following. Mrs. Howard was born on April 24, 1939 in Talco, TX to John Ottis and Gladys Owens Franklin and passed away on July 8, 2017 in Tyler.
She was raised in Mt. Pleasant and attended Mt. Pleasant High School where she was head cheerleader and graduated in 1957. She also attended ACC in Abilene. After which she lived in Bossier City, LA, where she had her children, Tammy and Jimmy. She later lived in Dallas and Austin before moving to Tyler in 1989. She had a career in banking and after retirement enjoyed selling Mary Kay and working in the Boutique at Steinmart. She was a member of the Church of Christ, the Salvation Army Auxilliary, and the Tyler Newcomers Club.
Mrs. Howard is survived by her husband of 42 years, James Bailey Howard, of Flint, TX; children: Jimmy Wren Jr. of Bossier, LA; Kirsten Thompson (Mike) of Aurora ,CO; Jana Miner (John) of Silt, Co; and Colin Howard (Kristan) of Centennial, CO; Son-in-law: Norman Alexander of Anna, TX; grandchildren: Lindsay Alexander Pasteka (Clay) of Quitman, TX; Aaron Alexander of Anna, TX; Christopher Wesson of Denver, CO; David Wesson (Krystina) of Denver, CO; Bailey Howard of Silt, CO; Kendall Howard of Centennial, CO; Haley Howard of Centennial, CO; Seth Miner of Grand Junction, CO; Dalton Miner of Silt, CO; great-grandchildren: Rylan Alexander; Tyler Wesson; Kaj Wesson; and Kadence Wesson; sister: Patricia Ann McCoy of Dallas, TX; brothers: William Arthur “Tex” Franklin of Lakeside, CA; Maurice Camp (Betsy) of Murrieta, CA; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Tammy Alexander.
