

Mary Avis Moore Johnson of Tyler Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Mary lived faithfully for her Lord Jesus Christ and he moved to her eternal home where she was greeted by her family and who had passed before her.
Mary was born in Big Spring, Texas on Wednesday, September 19, 1956 to Oscar Orval and Bernice Josephine Leftwich Moore. Mary spent the most of her younger adult life in Midland, Texas graduating for Midland High School in 1976. Mary then moved to Houston, Texas where she worked for Continental Airlines. After leaving Houston she moved to Jacksonville, Texas where she married Larry Johnson on Sunday, June 12, 2005.
Mary and Larry loved to travel with friends and family, they were blessed a few years back to accompany their friend and Veteran Mr. Brown to Washington DC for the Veteran Of Honor flight. One of Mary’s greatest joys was giving: be it Breakfast Burritos or Banana Nut Bread Loaves, she enjoyed making others smile. She always showered her siblings, nieces and nephews with gifts. Mary loved attending church and always helping in numerous lady’s conferences. Mary and Larry had lived in Tyler the last few years looking forward to retirement and moving to a lake somewhere.
Mary never had any children of her own but was parent to many children who came through the doors of her home, last count Mary had cared for over 50 plus foster kids.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Orval Moore in 1995 and Bernice Moore in 1988, she was also predeceased by her in laws, both sets of grandparents. One brother Richard in 1966, one sister Charlotte in 2005. Life long friends Janeace “Necy” Miller and Granny Grace Harrison.
Mary is survived by her husband Larry Johnson of Tyler, Brothers Oscar Moore and wife Sharon of Monahans, TX., Clayton Moore and wife Charlotte of Odessa, TX., Randy Moore and wife Renell of Crowley, TX., Tim Moore of Caldwell, TX. Sisters Linda Moore of Abilene, TX.,Kathy Maxwell and husband Wayne of Edgecliff Village, TX. Lisa Moore Rockhill of Altus, OK. Mary is also survived by Larry’s daughters Ashley Schuyler and Misty Brewer. Her “Adoptive Parents” Bro. Jim and Dorothy Slocumb and Jeanne Boaz. 16 Nieces and Nephews, 34 Great Nieces and Nephews and 7 great great Nieces and Nephews, and one Uncle Artie Leftwich of Lubbock, TX., numerous Cousins.

Even though Mary’s life was short here on earth she left her mark on this world and make the most of her dash.
