

Robert Lee Padgett, age 80, of Chandler, went to be with the Lord in the mid-afternoon hours of Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in Chandler. He was born on October 5, 1931 in Vine Grove, Kentucky to Hiley R. and Dessie Preston Padgett; they preceded him in death. After high school Mr. Padgett joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for more than 20 years retiring as a Sr. Master Sergeant and receiving numerous commendation medals. Robert married Virginia M. Whisenhunt, the love of his life, in 1953 and together spent more than 58 years living a lifetime of memories and raising a family. Mr. Padgett was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and carried his membership through the Vine Grove Lodge 603 in Vine Grove, KY. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Disabled Veterans of America. Robert was also a loyal member of the First United Methodist Church of Chandler. He had a deep love for his God, his country, his garden, and, most of all, his family. Robert leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and honor that most men can only hope to attain. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Mr. Padgett leaves behind his loving wife Virginia; daughter, Diane Cook and husband Speedy; sons, Ron Padgett and wife Ann, and Michael Padgett and wife Sheila; sisters, Lareva Payne and Patricia June Williams; brother, Ronnie Joe Padgett; and ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Dylan Padgett.
Service for Mr. Robert Padgett will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Tyler Memorial Funeral with Pastor Jeff McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at the Tyler Memorial Cemetery with men from the Military Honor Guard serving as pallbearers. His body will be escorted to graveside by the volunteers of the Patriot Riders. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
