Private services will be held at a later date for Samuel Joseph Ellis, 66, of Troup. Tyler Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Jan. 9, 1944, in Roswell, N.M., to the late Herbert and Eula Mae Ellis, and passed away Sept. 21, 2010, in Troup.
Mr. Ellis lived in the area since 1980 and was a commercial floor layer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jean Ellis; one brother; and four sisters.
He is survived by his sons, Herbert Wayne Ellis of Bullard and Samuel Joseph Ellis II of Tyler; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Hopkins of Bullard and Samantha Allen of Tyler; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brother, Edmond Ellis of Roswell, N.M.
