Mrs. Hastings, a retired housekeeper, was born on April 4, 1955 in Tyler to Louis and Nellie Steed.She grew up and attended school in Chapel Hill, graduating from Chapel Hill High School in 1973. Following high school she worked for C. Woods Plumbing as a licensed plumber, at the Brookshire's Warehouse, Tyler Pipe, Super 1 Foods and was the owner of S.R. Cleaning Service.
In March of 2005, she met Johnny Hastings and they were married in June of that same year. They made their home in Tyler and Susan retired in January of 2017.
She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Johnny Ray Hastings of Tyler; daughter, Peggy Meazell of Tyler; siblings, Teresa Easley of Pine Springs, Lana McDonald of Tyler; two grandchildren, William West, Jr. of Nacogdoches and Jackie Smith of Wichita Falls.
Visitation will be held from 3-6 PM, Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Center Community Cemetery, located at the intersection of CR 334 & CR 336, Tyler.
