Russell W. Rice Sr.

Russ was born on May 10, 1943 in New London, CT to Ernest and Helen (Moyer) Rice. On May 9, 1964, Russ married the love of his life, Lorraine Gavaletz, in Waterford, CT.

Throughout his life, Russ was well known for being able to fix anything, build anything, grow anything, and create all the plans in his head bringing them from concept to completion by his own hands. Beginning at Pfizer, he decided he would rather put his knowledge to use with his own HVAC business that he and his wife ran for many years known as “Russell Rice Contracting”.

Russ is survived by his wife Lorraine, two sons; Russell W. Rice Jr and wife Debi, John H. Rice and partner Stephen Dean, daughter; Sabrina L. Rogers and husband Jeff, two brothers; Gary Rice Sr and Ernest Rice Jr, two sisters; April Mascolino and Melody Rice-Murchison, grandchildren; Tyler, Stephen, Dylan, Samantha and Ethan, several nieces and nephews along with countless customers who he considered all as friends.

Calling hours are Sunday, January 31st from 4pm until 5:30pm at which time there will be a brief Memorial Service at The Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen, 53 Norwich-New London Tnpk, Uncasville, CT. Burial is private at the convenience of the family.
