Sean was born in New London on July 3, 1979. After attending schools in New London, Sean excelled in the culinary programs at Grasso Technical School in Groton, Connecticut, Three Rivers Community and Technical College in Norwich, Connecticut, and Culinary Institute of America in Poughkeepsie, New York. Sean was especially proud of his work with the Food Network when he created the sets that were used during the Iron Chef program. He worked for many area restaurants, most recently at Aspen in Old Saybrook, 41 Degrees Latitude in Mystic, and River Ridge Golf Course in Griswold.
Sean had many interests that included music, movies, and cars. What he found the most pleasure in was applying his culinary skills for cooking for his friends and family. Sean’s children were the biggest joy of his life. He was especially grateful for the care and support that their mothers, Cara Wisniewski and Jessica (Langevin) Maynard, gave them.
Along with many friends and family members, Sean leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Raymond and Sharon Maynard of New London; his brother Eric and wife Stacy (Johnson) Maynard of Quaker Hill; three children, son Kane Thomas and a daughter Sidney Pearl Maynard of Uncasville, and a daughter Piper Virginia Maynard of Mystic. Sean will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all.
The family invites friends and family to attend a celebration of Sean’s life on Monday, November 24 beginning at 3 pm, at Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen in Uncasville, Connecticut. Burial will be on a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maynard Children’s Fund, P.O. Box 135, Quaker Hill, Connecticut 06375.
