Naomi E. Gorsline Smith

Naomi E. Smith, 91, of Union City, passed away at her home Tuesday, June 19, 2012. She was born March 15, 1921 in Union City to Floyd E. and Katherine (Tetrick) Gorsline. She married Frank H. Smith on July 23, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1976.

Naomi was a nurse’s aid at the State Home and Training School (formerly the Coldwater Regional Center). She collected dolls, angels and stuffed dogs. She was an avid auction and garage sale goer and she loved to dance and sing.

She is survived by 3 daughters; Nancy (Glen) Gates of Girard, Janet Fairchild of Burlington, Mary Lou (Tom) Dodson of Union City, 15 grandchildren, 28 great and great, great, grandchildren, a sister; Judy Watson of Union City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, 2 daughters; Harriett Wagner and Patty Ann Fairchild, 3 sisters, 1 brother, and her parents.

Visitation will be Friday, June 22, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City. Services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home with Pastor Marty Burdick officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Union City.
