

Arthur H. Floyd, 89, of Monroe and formerly of Elizabeth, NJ and Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Saturday November 11th, 2017 while surrounded by his loving family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Arthur was born in Brooklyn, NY to his late parents, Raymond and Lillian (Kane) Floyd. As a teen, Arthur worked as a lifeguard at Coney Island during the summers. After high school, Arthur enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve our country during World War II, where he made his way through the ranks and became a part of the prestigious Frog Men, who are now known as Navy SEALS. During his time in the Navy, Arthur was known for making side money by diving off from the top mast of ships. He was such a proficient diver that he was offered a position on the U.S.A. Olympic Diving Team. Following the war, Arthur went on to have a very successful career as an Insurance Broker for Allstate Insurance Company where he worked for over 50 years. Arthur loved spending time with his late wife Joan Haggerty Floyd, his children and grandchildren. He was also a diehard golfer, and could be often found on the links of Suburban Golf Club in Union, many times with one of his favorite golf partners and friends, the late Bill McCracken.
Arthur is predeceased by his parents; Raymond and Lillian Floyd, his brothers; Raymond, Kenneth and Richard Floyd; and his dear grandson, Logan Floyd DeMizio.
Arthur is survived by wife, Annette Floyd, his daughter and her husband, Tara and Dennis DeMizio, his son and his wife, Kevin and Marta Floyd; three grandchildren, Brenner Dylan DeMizio, Amanda Floyd Cox, Kyle Patrick Floyd, and his sister, Lillian Floyd of Wellington, Florida.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083, on Tuesday November 14th from 6:00 to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Genevieve’s Church, 200 Monmouth Rd, Elizabeth, NJ 07208, on Wednesday November 15th at 9:00am. A burial and committal service will follow Mass at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth, NJ.
