The Kingdom of Heaven became even more perfect this past Friday, August 23rd 2024, when Ellen Edith Gentzel (72) of Grovetown, GA unexpectedly joined its ranks. She is now with God and amongst so many greatly missed loved ones who’ve predeceased her, including Eleanor Gentzel (mother), Adolph Gentzel Jr. (father), and her infant son Benjamin Miller.
Born on May 30th, 1952 in Elizabeth, NJ, Ellen started making the lives of everyone around her better from childhood on. She grew up in both Union Township (Union County) and Flemington, NJ with her parents and two sisters, Eleanor Van Ness of Annandale, NJ and Eydie Brussel of Las Cruces, New Mexico, both of whom she is survived by. Excelling in school, Ellen later graduated summa cum laude from Ryder College with a degree in math. Having hit the ground running after graduation, Ellen was quickly recruited by Franklin State Bank, where she began her career as an IT Director. As a result of her painstaking labor and creative abilities, Ellen rose to become the bank’s vice president.
Ellen put her thriving career on pause so that she could raise her children at home. She is survived by her son, John Daugert of Savannah, GA, and daughter, Carley Crandall of Grovetown, GA, both of whom remain ever grateful for her sacrifice. To make ends meet, Ellen created her own home-based business, Ellco Computers, which was a marvel in its own right. As her children grew older, she resumed her career in the private sector, where she worked as an E-Commerce and Applications Manager for Celebrity International in Avenel, NJ for many years.
Those who have known Ellen well during her lifetime have been touched by her kindness and thoughtfulness, and awed by her intelligence and work ethic. Humanity has undoubtedly lost one of its finest specimens.
In addition to her heartbroken children and sisters, Ellen is also survived by Chrissy Weber (niece) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Ricky Gentzel (cousin) and his wife Ellen of Flemington, NJ, Lilly-Ann Daugert (daughter-in-law) of Savannah, GA, Jonathan Luna (son-in-law) of Grovetown, GA, and her five loving grandchildren, Jonathan, Audrick, Evelyn, Claire, and Jordan, all of whom will miss their “Grammy” very much.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m. at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ followed by her burial at Hollywood Cemetery, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave, Union, NJ.
