Elverna A. Popadak

Elverna was born in Hillside, NJ on October 23, 1929 to her parents Edward Oppel and Emma Zilly as their only child. She graduated from Hillside High School in 1947. She moved to Garwood, NJ when she married her husband Michael Sr of 44 years on February 7, 1953. Together they retired to Venice, Fl after she worked for NJ Bell, now Verizon, after 30 years in 1989. After the passing of her husband in 1997 a short time after she moved to Altamonte Springs Fl to be close to her daughter Virginia. She then moved back to NJ to live with her sons Michael Jr. and Mark in Union.

Elverna enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, gardening and traveling.

Elverna is predeceased by her husband Michael Paul Popadak Sr. She is survived by her children Virginia (Anthony) Jamorski, Kathryn (Gregory) Tomasula, Lynda (Michael) Armus, Michael Popadak Jr, and Mark Popadak. She was a loving grandmother to Nicole (Jeffrey) Kunst, Danielle (Gregory) Santoro, Anthony (Kelly Ann) Jamorski, Michael (fiancé Jessica Fisher) Jamorski and Linsey Armus and a great grandmother to Jeffrey Kunst III.

Family and friends are invited to McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 2-6pm. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Spirit Church 971 Suburban Road, Union, NJ on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 12pm. Interment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.
