George W. Devanney, Jr.

George W. Devanney, Jr, 79, of Mountainside, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in his home and surrounded by his loving family. George was born to the late George and Helen Devanney in Elizabeth, NJ.

George was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary “Marge” Lesniak Devanney. He is survived by their four children, George Devanney (Angie), Suzanne Devanney-Pereira (“Freddie”); Daniel Devanney (Susan), and Christian Devanney (Svetlana). He is also survived by their grandchildren, George, John, Ryan, Abbey, Paige, Zachery, Zhenya, and James. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

George took pride in being a hard-working Union Laborer. He was elected Vice President of Local 715 in 1971 and served his Brotherhood with dedicated loyalty. Initiated in 1957, he was an honorary member with a total of 62 years in with the New Jersey Carpenters.

George was also predeceased by his second wife, Lois Petrillo Devanney.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 9:30 AM at Holy Spirit Church, 971 Suburban Rd, Union, NJ 07083. Cremation will be private.
