In life sometimes if we’re lucky, we get to have someone close to us who is so special that they seem once in a lifetime . They come through life like a shooting star and light the way of everyone they touch . Gram was that person for so many people . She lived her life with dignity and strength, and taught me how to do the same. Our Angels are only here on borrowed time, but I am forever grateful to God for choosing to allow me those precious moments with her. Heaven gained one of the best and she will always be missed and remembered for the way she changed our world.

 To say that my grandmother was impressive is an understatement . Grandma Gladys was doing incredible things for anyone, especially a young black woman born  in the ‘20s. She was well educated , well traveled, and accomplished in her own right, and she made something of herself.  She lived a lot of life in her 102 years , and it’s no surprise that she always continued to do more than was expected. I wish I had spent more time with her, and had the privilege of knowing more about her life when I was younger. Fortunately, I have learned a lot of surprising information about her history and achievements recently, and I am so grateful. When I asked her about her incredible feats, she was so modest and didn’t seem to realize how special she was or the weight of her success . I am really proud to call Gladys Blount my grandmother, and if I can be even a fraction as bold and as brave as  she was, I will be very happy and proud of myself, and I’m sure one day my own grandkids will be proud of me. You’re a hero and a trailblazer, Gram !

I loved this lady as soon as we met many years ago. I understood that I was being trusted to look after her precious Grandson.  Over the next thirty years I came to learn about Gram’s incredible life. To admire her spirit and strength. When teaching Gram’s story of service during the war to school children in England, I was overwhelmed with the impact this had on the class and how much Gram inspired the children.
Gram, most of all I will miss your laugh and honesty.  Love you, Rachel

Dear Eva and Family,
Our hearts were really saddened to hear of the transition of my dear friend Gladys. She will be greatly missed. I'm grateful to God for having put her and your family in my life.  We had the blessing of sharing many laughs together and her upbeat spirit brought so much joy and encouragement to me and others.  She always shared how much she loved you and her 'Grands' and her love for others extended to include my Daniel as a Grand as well. Thank you for sharing her with us.
