Upon graduation from Thomas Jefferson High School he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1953.
As a youngster Glenn knew his career calling—an auto body professional. In 1956 he established his business Tryon Auto Body in Linden, NJ. Being a perfectionist, he could transform a damaged car into a polished work of beauty. He was known by his customers as having “hands of magic”.
Glenn spent many dedicated hours bringing enjoyment to the lives of others through his membership in the Elizabeth Lodge #289 B.P.O.Elks and Union Lodge #1583 B.P.O.ELKS. During his 60-year membership he held the titles Exalted Ruler, District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, State Trustee and State Chairman National Service Committee.
He most enjoyed taking a group of veterans to see a ballgame at Yankee Stadium, taking them on boat rides with the Sea Scouts out of Tremley Point in Linden, NJ and enjoying with them barbecues and fireworks at Lyons VA Medical Center.
In the 1970’s and 1980’s Glenn was the General Chairman of the N.J. Golden Gloves. Every Friday night the boxing matches would take place at the Elizabeth Armory. He along with the N.J. Golden Gloves A.B.F. officials would take the championship team to the National Competition held around the country.
For relaxation Glenn enjoyed crafting, cheering on the New York Yankees and rooting for Notre Dame football.
Surviving are his lifelong, devoted companion Patricia Junio and her son Raymond Junio, his brother Elwood Tryon and his wife Verda Tryon.
He was predeceased by his mother and father Anne Marie (Begany) and Joel Tryon; and his nephews Todd Tryon and Wayne Chiodo.
Due to the recommended safety measures caused by the coronavirus, services will be private. A memorial mass will be celebrated at a future date.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Union Lodge #1583 B.P.O.Elks, Veterans Committee, 281 Chestnut St., Union, NJ. 07083.
