JENNIFER MARGARET INCE (nee RICE), age 74, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. Jennifer was born in Gorton, East Manchester, England on June 8, 1947, to John Rice and Kathleen Rice (nee Faulkner) who were both of Irish Celtic ancestry. She spent her early childhood in Manchester where she completed her high school education at Saint Francis Catholic.
Jennifer immigrated to the United States of America in 1970 to reunite with her husband and start a new life with their three children. Their fourth and last child was born a few years later in the USA.
Jennifer’s early career started at The Great Atlantic & Specific Tea Company as a Key Punch Operator where she advanced to Lead Key Punch Operator and was ultimately promoted to Assistant MIS Supervisor. She moved on to be a Lead Computer Operator for Wakefern, Stern’s and Congoleum before a 20-year career at Linen & Things, where she retired as Marketing Price Point Signage Supervisor. During retirement, Jennifer held a position as Vice President on the board of the Putnam House and for the past ten years, she worked as a crossing guard in Union, New Jersey. Jennifer also served as District Leader for the City Council for the Township of Union.
A devout Catholic and member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, Jennifer was a proud and resilient woman who possessed the so-called Irish temperament: a mixture of resiliency, great personal charm and warmth, and a wit that shone through adversity. She lived a life of service and received great pleasure in helping others. Her passion and enthusiasm for life, spirit of positivity and love for family will be deeply missed as her memory remains indelible in all our hearts.
She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved brother Michael Rice, sisters Patricia Norton, Moya Rice and granddaughter, Sierra Brown.
Jennifer was well-loved and survived by her four children, Stephen Ince, Garry (Patricia) Ince, Caroline (Julius) Mentis and Deborah (Montigo) Hawkins, sisters, Anne Harris and Christine Andrews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews – with all of whom she shared special relationships.
May her Soul Rest in Peace.
