

Joan McGlade Proud Irish descendant Joan McGlade (nee Mellage) of Middletown, N.J., formerly of Elizabeth, N.J., passed away peacefully on Jan. 20, 2015, at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, N.J. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Genevieve's Roman Catholic Church, 200 Monmouth Rd., Elizabeth, on Friday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. Joan graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Elizabeth. As a proud Irish descendant, she made several trips to Ireland and reveled in the myth and magic of the island. Joan was an active member of the Hibernian Club (3s and 7s) and the Nugent Association and took pride in marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. She was an executive secretary for Milton Can in Elizabeth for many years and was presently employed by Laurel Bay Health & Rehabilitation Center in Keansburg, N.J., where she was well loved by her residents, their families and staff. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Rudy and Claire Mellage, and her brother, Jim. She is survived by her brother, Bob, and his wife, Nancy Mellage; brother, Tom, and his wife, Sue Mellage; sister-in-law, Antoinette Mellage; 10 cherished nieces and nephews, and 18 grandnieces and grandnephews. Contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her name.
