

Mario attended Eastside High School in Newark, N.J. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Trever DMS-16. He was a Building Services Supervisor at the Prudential Insurance Company for 37 years. In later years, he worked part-time at Designers Gallery in Clark, N.J. where he loved to frame pictures.
He was married on Jan. 18, 1948, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church to his beloved wife, Marie. He was involved and participated in many organizations, including the Hillside Seniors, the St. Catherine’s Seniors, Bingo at Christ the King Church, and AARP. Through these organizations, Mario and Marie traveled, met many wonderful friends, went to concerts, and loved visiting casinos. Mario was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. He was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. But what he loved most was his family and friends. Everyone who ever met him loved him.
Mario was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 68 years, Marie Mauro, his loving parents, and his dear siblings Anthony, Salvatore, and Kathryn.
He was the adoring brother of Rae Padreza, the devoted father of Michael Mauro and his wife, Sandee, Pamela McCoy, Mario Mauro Jr and his wife, Loretta, Lisa Mauro, and the late Anthony Mauro; loving grandfather of Matthew Mauro, Christopher Mauro, Jaclyn McCoy, Angel Fleming, Jenna Tassillo and her husband, Albie, and Victoria Mauro and her fiance, Jake Hardie; cherished great-grandfather of Brittany and her husband, Johnathan, Gina, Anthony, Joey, Kendall, Emerson, Miles, Evelyn, Audra, Joelle, and Gabriel; and great-great-grandfather of Camryn, Jayden and the late Jeremiah.
A visitation for Mario will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083.
Funeral service will occur Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King R.C. Church, 411 Rutgers Avenue, Hillside, NJ 07205.
