Richard Neal Commerford, 71, was born on April 16, 1954, in East Orange and passed away on March 8, 2026. Richard was beloved and cherished by all who knew him—a devoted, hard-working man whose steady presence and generous spirit will be deeply missed.
A longtime Green Bay Packers fan, Richard followed his team with enthusiasm and loyalty. He was also an avid Civil War enthusiast, always eager to learn and share what he knew, and he found simple joy and peace in gardening. Richard was a former member of Elks Lodge #1583 in Union, New Jersey.
Richard shared more than 40 years of marriage with his wife, Mary. He was a devoted father to his sons, Stephen (Jessica) and Russell, and a proud grandfather to Amelia and Gavin. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Commerford.
Visitation will be held at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083, on March 13, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will follow at McCracken Funeral Home on March 13, 2026, at 11:00 am. A Committal Service will be held at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery, Kenilworth.
