Richard "Westy" E. McKune

Richard was born on July 10, 1940, in The Bronx, NY. He grew up in Westwood, NJ (earning him the nickname “Westy”), and later made his home in Union, NJ, with his wife and four children. He had a long and successful career as a Mechanical Engineer, loved classic cars (especially Corvettes), and was an extremely talented woodworker. He often gifted his children and grandchildren thoughtful projects as a reflection of his love and creativity.

Richard is survived by his children, Tricia (Mark), Keith (Linda), Kerry (Peter), and Megan (Brian), and by his grandchildren, Christopher, James, Caroline, Emily, Catherine, Grace, Gavin, Matthew, and Barbara. He is also survived by his brother, Danny McKune, and sister, Patti Kolaya. Richard is predeceased by his wife, Barbara, and his sisters Mickie MacMillian and Vikki Schrader.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McCracken Funeral Home, located at 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ, 07083. The service is scheduled for January 24, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
