Richard J. Upson

Born in Irvington Mr. Upson resided in Union for over 60 years. He also enjoyed spending time at his summer home in Manahawkin.

In his youth, Mr. Upson was a Golden Glove boxer at the PAL in Irvington and loved riding motorcycles! Mr. Upson served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, he became a member of the American Legion Post # 35 of Union. Mr. Upson worked as a Sheet Metal Mechanic for the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 22 in Cranford for over 35 years before retiring in 1996.

Mr. Upson was preceded in death by his parents William and Elsie (Nee Zink) Upson and his Brother William Upson.

He is survived by his beloved wife Jean of over 60 years; sons, Richard and his wife Kathleen, and Michael Upson. Mr. Upson also leaves behind two wonderful grandchildren Andrew and Jennifer as well as many dear nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Upson will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 9:00 -10:00 AM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, New Jersey 07083.

Funeral service will occur at 10:00 AM

Graveside service to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, New Jersey 07936.
