Sue passed away on Monday October 19th, 54 years to the day of her birth, impressive yes, surprising no. She always looked on the bright side of life. No matter how difficult, no matter how challenging, nothing changed her smiling demeanor. Sue did it all and everyone walked away with a smile. Being a mom and raising Tim and Craig with Alan was always easy, a lesson in how to be a loving parent and family. Sue had a very loving relationship with her sister Karen, who was always at the ready and always stepped in with only a moment’s notice. A penchant and passion for teaching, whether her own children or her 4th grade classes, Sue put it all out there and did whatever necessary to make a pleasant, positive, and happy difference in the lives of children, and children no matter how young or grown were always drawn to her. Her colleagues respected and loved her, and her many friends knew that they had a truly loving and reliable friend in her. Sue could whip up a magnificent meal for 2 or for 25, but the amount of food for 2 was enough for 25 and the amount of food for 25 left those present with leftovers for days. And then there’s Astro, those that knew Sue, knew Astro, her best furry friend who never left her side throughout her more than 12-year battle with breast cancer. Her battle with this disease and her final days were another lesson for us all, she took it all in stride, as she did it all with a smile, simply put, she just did it. Sue did it all for as long as she possibly could, and now she has left us all with a shared smile. Thank you Sue, you did what we all strive to do, you truly made a difference. It was also her request that anyone attending the wake or the funeral wear something bright colored so it's not so depressing!
The viewing will take place at McCracken Funeral Home located at 1500 Morris Avenue in Union on Thursday October 22nd from 4-8pm. The Church service will be Friday at 11am at Calvary Lutheran Church located at 108 Eastman Street in Cranford, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
