If Cousin Annie was there  you knew it was going to be fun.

Annie always made time for friends and family.

Where do I even start with my wonderful memories of Aunt Annie?  I am so sorry she has left this world but it leaves me happy to think of her now being with her family in heaven. I like to imagine her getting to know her father, being with Uncle Jim, being with her brothers and mother again. What a joyful reunion they are having! As I look back of so many memories I think of her in the kitchen and trying to teach me via phone what I’m doing wrong with my streudel. I saw the first men walk on the moon on a little black and white TV in her beach rental at Newport Beach. I loved to walk into her home and see her etagere covered with holiday decorations. I still do that in my own home because of her. I can picture she and Grandma cleaning gunny sacks full of Benito caught by Rick, Nick and Bob off the old barge. She was always taking care of all of us and trying to make life a little better. She did just that! My life has been better because of her. I love you Aunt Annie and will see you again one day. ❤️ Gail 

Grandma Nona was a wonderful Matriarch for the Smith family.  She was honored by her family for over four decades for her encouragement and example.  She and her husband, Jim, provided children, grandchildren and great grandchildren a loving home, wonderful dinners, cheering family members efforts and a great example of  love, committed to each other and their family.  Brenda and I want to thank Anna for her (and Jim's) acceptance  of Nathan when he joined the Smith family.  Thank you, may God continue to bless the Jim and Anna Smith family. 

Will forever remember growing up and going to her house on Christmas Eve, eating the best mostaccioli EVER and playing basket ball in the garage! There is no one like Auntie Annie!!!! We love you so much! 

Auntie Annie was the life of our wedding! She was such a joy and never missed a chance to be on the dance floor. We miss her dearly and will love her forever. 

Family, love, tradition, amazing food, puzzles, cards, laughter, my corner, holidays, Hawaii, the beach…the list goes on. 

92 years was not long enough, but what an incredible life we get to celebrate. 

If you are one of my friends, she was your grandma too. She was the Coconut Telegraph that kept us all connected. She didn’t miss a game, graduation, wedding, celebration, etc. She gave us traditions, made the BEST birthday cakes and sandwiches, sprayed solarcaine  on our sunburns, loved the Dodgers, and loved us so much. 

I have been so blessed to have had 4 incredible grandparents throughout my life. Losing Nona is an end of an era. She will be greatly missed, but I know she will live on through her family that loves her so much. I love you, Nona. ❤️ ~Kelly Mills


My Nona was one of the most important people in my life, I'm so grateful to have spent so much time with her and my family over the years. Some of my favorite memories are going to her house after school and eating her grilled cheese sandwiches, fries, and pigs in a blanket, watching Dodger games and having long conversations about their fate, our issues with the announcers and the manager, and what the players are doing, playing cooties, learning how to make pita, seeing her at all of my games, and laughing with her at family gatherings. 

Nona is forever in our hearts. She will be so tremendously missed, but her positive impact on our lives will be felt forever. She was always instrumental in helping us remember and sustain the tradition of family togetherness - and her presence was always cherished at our gatherings and remains alive in our very being. She always paid attention to whoever was in her presence and to the details of every one of life's tasks. The love she shared and received from all who were fortunate to call her family and friend is without measure. I miss her deeply; she leaves me better for knowing her.

My Grandma (Nona)  was so very special to me. I was fortunate to have had 52 years with her in my life. I spent countless hours with her and my grandpa. I was so lucky to have spent many weekend nights at their house watching The Love Boat and Fantasy Island while eating my grandma’s delicious buttered popcorn. Holidays were always amazing and special at their house. From Thanksgiving feasts to Easter Egg hunts to Christmas slumber parties - so many memories were made. I will always remember my grandma’s attention to detail and how even her sandwiches were perfectly wrapped in wax paper! I always felt my grandma’s unconditional love even when I may not have warranted it. The time that she spent with me was the most precious gift of all. She took me to a calligraphy class and she and I shared that hobby for many years. She would draw, craft, make puzzles, bake, and cook with me, always encouraging me to do it the “right way” even when I wanted to cut corners. When I had my two children I was even more fortunate to have her as their great-grandma! She would sing along to records with my kids and made them feel as special as I always did. I was fortunate to have lived on the next street over from my grandparents for about 7 years. I would walk to their house often and she and my grandpa would walk my kids to preschool and back. Those days were so special to us. I have a lifetime of memories of my grandma and her death will leave a very big hole in my heart. I knew that she couldn't live forever and I am thankful for all the time I spent with her. I miss her so much already and I hope she knows how much I loved and appreciated her.  I love you, Nona.
