Chris was born to Charles and Jean Palmer on April 29th 1949 at St Bernadine Hospital in San Bernardino. Her two siblings are Betsy Couden and Charles (Chip) Palmer, who reside with their families in Northern California.
Chris met her husband, Steve Richtman, in 1969 while they attended Cal Poly, Pomona. “Hi Chris” was Steve’s well thought out pick up line. The line worked well enough as Chris and Steve were married on June 26, 1972. They spent their early years living Chino before moving to Alta Loma in 1980. Chris has three children, Eric-36, Kelsey-32, Tyler-25, along with two grandchildren Jack-5, and Lily-3, and daughter-in-law, Alli-39.
After Cal Poly, Christine started a career in education where she remained for 38 years. Most recently she taught 3rd grade at John L. Golden Elementary School in Etiwanda. She had a love and passion to teach each and every student as if he/she were her only student. She loved Snoopy, the Dodgers, Vin Scully, people watching, reading, chardonnay, England and Ireland, her dogs, activities with Jack and Lily, retail therapy with Kelsey, road trips with Tyler, traveling with Steve.
She always welcomed new “adopted sons and daughters” into her family. The front door was always open. Literally, she never locked it. Friends of her children would always have a welcome place to go.
She will be missed by us all.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in her honor to heiferfoundation.org, an organization which creates hope, offers dignity and forges a way for disadvantaged people around the world to become self-reliant.
