Christopher Alan Watson

Christopher Alan Watson, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away January 26, 2025, aged 87. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years Joan, sons Tim and Christopher (Jenny), daughters Helen and Joanna (Diane), and grandchildren William, Matthew, Isabelle, Emma, Nicholas and Jack.

Born in London, England, Chris graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge with an engineering degree. Work provided him the opportunity of business travel to the US. In 1979, pursuing a transfer with ITT, he relocated with his family to Upland, California. Joan and Chris became active members of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Chris loved to sing in the St. Mark’s choir and was an avid participant with the bell ringers. Chris was fueled by a passion for understanding how things worked and a creative eye to building circuits, gadgets and solving all kinds of problems. Chris was creative in the arts. He wrote poems for all occasions, scientific and self reflective essays. He loved word games. He enjoyed taking photographs, drawing and over the last few years, painting. He was industrious in his making of grapefruit marmalade, strawberry jam and homemade bread. He enjoyed travel, the outdoors and hiking with family and friends. Chris was very fond of his nieces and nephews in England. Ever the boy scout, Chris was kind and generous with his time to help others, always ready to assist anyone in any situation.

Chris was a beautiful loving soul. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Upland, on April 26th.
