

Gale “Grumpy” Glenn, 78, passed away on April 9th 2021 in Upland, California. He was preceded by his wife of 45 years, Beth, in 2016. They spent 31 years making their home in Crestline, California where they served their community and cared for their family and friends.
Gale began his career in law enforcement with Huntington Beach Police Department in 1973. Prior to that he had worked at J.C. Penny and Bullock’s Department Stores as a men’s dresser, for Sparklet’s Water making deliveries, as a bus driver and tour guide for Thompson Transportation and a volunteer fireman for Seal Beach. He suffered a shoulder injury on the job and retired from HBPD in 1989. After a brief respite he began working for San Bernardino County Special Districts plowing roads in 1990 and became a paid call fireman for his local station, #25. His public works continued when after the “Old Fire” in 2003, he was instrumental in establishing the Support Services Unit for the Crest Forest Fire Department which was later absorbed by San Bernardino County Fire. He retired as an inspector from the county in 2012 and later retired from the fire department having reached the rank of Captain.
Grumpy was known for his big hugs, fantastic storytelling and quick wit. He had a caring heart and beautiful tenor singing voice. He often sang for weddings and special occasions for family and friends and regularly sang at his home church of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Crestline. He is survived by his 3 children, Keri-Lyn Glenn Stewart, Andrew Glenn and Kristen Kister, his 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, niece Denise Hannah, nephew Daniel Glenn and his dog Jack, who is a very good boy.
A funeral mass will be held on June 26th at 11:00am. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
