Margaret "Gene" Muelchi

Margaret “Gene” Muelchi (née Sim), age 96&1/2, went to be with the Lord on April 13,2025 (Palm Sunday), in Upland, Ca. Born on August 12,1928, in Toronto,Canada, Gene lived a long and meaningful life marked by deep faith, devotion to family, and a passion for beauty in all its forms.

A member of First Presbyterian Church of Upland, Gene was a woman of unwavering Christian faith. Her spiritual strength was evident in every aspect of her life- she shared her beliefs openly and joyfully with those around her. Her commitment to service extended beyond the church walls; she held bible study in her home for many years, and she was an active member of Assistance League until health challenges limited her participation. Even then, her generous spirit endured through continued charitable giving to a wide variety of causes.

Gene had a deep love for nature and found great joy in gardening. A dedicated rosarian and member of a Garden Club, she once tended over 100 rose bushes in her yard- a living testament to her patience and care.

Music brought Gene immense happiness throughout her life. She had an opera-trained soprano voice and often sang solos in church. She especially cherished the vocal group IL Divo. She was so thrilled to be able to attend several of their concerts.

Animals held a special place in Gene’s heart. Over the years, she lovingly cared for many pets, each one thoroughly spoiled and deeply cherished. Her compassion for animals reflected the same kindness she extended to everyone she met.

Above all else, Gene loved her family deeply. Her warmth and devotion created lasting bonds that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

May Margaret “Gene” Muelchi’s memory bring comfort to all who were touched by her grace and love.

Gene is survived by her son and his wife, Michael and Shari Muelchi, and her daughter Colleen Muelchi.

A final resting place will occur at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 3751 Market St, San Diego, CA 92102.
