
Michael O'Brien Dalton passed away at his home in Rancho Cucamonga, CA on August 13, 2024. He was born in New York City January 22, 1944 and was raised in Monrovia, CA. Mike, his parents, and his two brothers and sister were active members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monrovia where he served as an alter boy. He attended La Salle High School run by the Christian Brothers in Sierra Madre, Citrus College, and Cal Poly Pomona. Mike served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War onboard the USS Saint Paul. The "Fighting Saint" sailed from San Diego for numerous deployments to the gunline off the coast of Vietnam. The He received a National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He spent more that 30 years with United Parcel Service.
Mike is survived by his wife Peggy Dalton, son Sean Dalton, daughter Coleen Dalton, brother Brian Dalton and several nieces and cousins. He is pre-deceased by his father Gerald, mother Kathryn, sister Elaine, and brother Garrett.
Mike studied architecture and enjoyed building things. His artwork was displayed at multiple shows. He liked the outdoors and camping a great deal and the family enjoyed many adventures. He had a knack for elaborate outdoor holiday decorations and the family homes in both Rancho Cucamonga and Monrovia were almost always spruced up. Mike was very patriotic and made certain to fly the American flag on holidays. And of course, Mike loved his trains and model railroading.
The funeral service will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00am pacific time on August 20.
