James Burley Leroy Cherry

James Burley Leroy Cherry, age 61, of Connelly Springs passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015. He was born the son of the late Ted Leroy Cherry and Mary Pauline Hoyle Cherry on November 11, 1953 in Burke County.

James was of the Baptist faith, and was known for his kind heart. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. James will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by a son, Jamie Lee Cherry, and his grandparents, Burley and Mary Jane Hoyle.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include a daughter, Tequila Cherry and her fiancé, Keith Nanney; two sisters, Betty Shoupe of Morganton and Sandra Lowman and her husband, Jimmy of Valdese; and three grandchildren, Levi Nanney, Dylan Reed and Heidi Cherry. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, July, 6, 2015 in the chapel of Valdese Family Funeral Care. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
