Richard Garrett Cook, 25, of Drexel, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at his residence. Garrett was born March 16, 1987, in Burke County and was preceded in death by his father, Carson Cook and maternal grandfather, Richard Benfield.
He is survived by his mother, Kathy Benfield Cook, of Drexel;
His maternal grandmother, Polly Benfield, of Morganton;
A daughter, Makenzie Norville, of Drexel;
A sister, Stacy Cook Mayfield, of Valdese;
An aunt, Donna Harwood, of Drexel;
An uncle, Bruce Benfield, of Newland;
Two cousins, Kayla and Savanna Harwood, both of Drexel and a close family friend, Daniel Saulman, of Hickory also survive Garrett.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 2, 2012, in the Chapel of Valdese Family Funeral Care, Valdese.
