Alma Jean McClendon

Alma Jean McClendon, 86, of Cedarville, passed this life on Monday, March 7, 2022 in Van Buren. She was born July 2, 1935 in Van Buren to the late Dewey and Margie (Stewart) Wilbanks. She was a 1954 Van Buren graduate, and a forward on a winning team in basketball and loved the game. She was a wife and mother, and had worked for Darrell Thomas Co. for twenty-four years. She and her husband were members of Cedarville First Baptist Church since the early 70’s. She loved her church family very much and enjoyed many church activities throughout the years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth H. McClendon; and four siblings, Gladys Rogers, Tom Wilbanks, Odell Wilbanks, and Betty Lou Hendricks.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth C. McClendon and wife Cindy of Cedarville; a granddaughter, Crissy Wilkinson and husband Kyle; four great-grandchildren, Lane Inge and his fiancé, Brooklyn Lundsford, LeAnn Inge and her fiancé Cole Banning, Paisley Wilkinson, and Matthew Wilkinson; a great-great-granddaughter, Charleigh Banning; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Cedarville First Baptist Church with interment to follow at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Wilkinson, Lane Inge, Cole Banning, Dwight Payne, Jason Rogers, and Matt Robinson.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
