

Carl Daugherty, 91, of Van Buren, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015. He was born August 27, 1923 in the Oak Grove Community to the late Thell and Millie McCaslin Daugherty. He worked for Wards Furniture and Kay Chair Company; served in the U.S. Navy during WWII with 11 Battle Stars; and is a member of the American Legion. He was a lifetime member of New Hope Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Fay Pound and husband Odell; and three brothers, George Daugherty and wife Regeta, and Ray and Robert Daugherty.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Daugherty of the home; a daughter, Sharon Furch of Van Buren; a son, Carl G. Daugherty and wife Susan of Van Buren; a brother, Richard Daugherty of Greenwood; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Daugherty and Regenia Daugherty; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Gill Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Jason Haugen, Malachi Furch, Kent Furch, Patrick Daugherty, Bill Vickery, and Leroy Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Sylvan Furch, Kent Furch, Jr. Jacob Furch, Gary Stem, Christopher Haugen, and Don Jones.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
