

Captain Clyde Shepard, 66, of Van Buren, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 in Fort Smith. He was born February 14, 1949 in Fort Smith to the late Clyde and Dorothy Shepard, Sr. He worked for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for 44 years. Previously having received Officer of the Year award, his other activities included 38 years with the Crawford county Conservation League where for 35 years he served as Secretary/Treasurer. He was also a previous Committee member of Crawford County Ducks Unlimited. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dottie Sue Jowers.
He is survived by his wife Gayla Shepard of the home; a daughter, Cynthia Jones of Fort Smith; two sons, Bryan Shepard of Fort Smith, and Brad Shepard of Rogers; five grandchildren, Christian Lance Shepard, Joseph Dean Shepard, Shelby Reese Shepard, Myles Jase Shepard, and Hudson Rylee Jones; and a great-grandson, Greyson Shepard.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2015 at the New Life Church in Fort Smith with interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be the Game and Fish Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Nolan Broyles, Charlie Bonner and the A-2 District Officers.
The family will visit with friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
