Danny Lynn Rogers, 72, of Alma, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. He passed away peacefully at his home with his three sons by his side. Sadly, his brother, Eddie Rogers, also crossed over to be with the Lord on the same day.
Danny was born November 29, 1953 in Fort Smith to the late J.D. and Velma (Means) Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Rogers. As with his mother and father, Danny was a lifelong member of Oliver Springs Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his three sons, Johnny Mack Rogers and wife Cindy, Jackie Rogers and wife Sara, and Jay Rogers and wife Lydia, all of Alma; known as Pepaw, he also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Brittany, Austin, Ashley, Allison, Bradi, Jenna, Emily, Kenton, and Kallie; and he also lived long enough to be blessed with five great-grandchildren, Jemma, Kase, Jax, Bronx and Ryder with two more great-granddaughters, Montana and Ivey to make their arrival soon.
Last but not least he is also survived by his beloved dogs, Buddy and Reba.
Danny was retired from the Crawford County Highway Department where he operated heavy equipment for over 20 years and also retired from the Alma School District maintenance department where he spent evenings and nights buffing and waxing the hallway floors.
A few things worth mentioning about Danny . . .
If you knew him, you knew that since his childhood he had a love affair with the outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter, crappie and bass fisherman but his number one love was turkey hunting. He would always say to be a good turkey hunter, especially in the Ozark Mountains, you had to play games and stretch the truth a little at times just to throw people off. The truth is, nobody played the game better. For Danny, there was nothing he enjoyed more than to be in the mountains on a crisp spring morning and hear a lonesome turkey gobble somewhere on a faraway ridge at first light.
Danny also greatly enjoyed having company stop by and visit him at home and he traveled many a mile locally just to sit and "chew the fat" with his friends. In addition, he was well known for frequenting the local coffee shops of a morning to sit and "solve the world's problems" with all the other retired, wise old men.
He will be remembered as a notorious jokester and prankster, who loved nothing more than to "cut-up" with a good friend or pick at his grandchildren. That sly grin of his, when he pulled a "good one" will not soon be forgotten.
Lastly, he loved his three sons dearly and was known to brag on them occasionally, but only to other people and never face to face with them. That was just his way. He was a hard man, and he raised his boys hard, but in the end, it made them MEN and they appreciated it. To many, he may have been a friend or family member, but to his three boys he was, and always will be their Hero.
Danny was loved by many and he will be missed immensely by his family and friends . . . although you could never convince him of that.
