Doris Laverne Howell, 94, of Uniontown, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023 in Fort Smith. She was born September 5, 1928 in Fort Smith to the late Bart and Irene (Hulsey) Comestock. She had worked with her husband at his insurance agency.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Howell; a son, Steven Howell; two sisters, Bernice Degen and Ava Lee Young.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Townsend of Oak Ridge, TX; five grandchildren, Carisa Weaver, Athena Eggleston, Miranda Howell, Jeanna Howell, and Jason Howell; eleven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Tristen, and Gavin Weaver, Elizabeth Eggleston, Brenden and Kaityln Howell, Nathaniel Epperson, Delbert Parnell, Isabela Dugan, and Katara and Dakota Howell; a great-great-granddaughter, Delilah Weaver.
Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Uniontown Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2023, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
