

Elnora Newton, 75, of Fort Smith, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016 in Fort Smith. She was born December 27, 1940 in Randolph, MS to the late S.T. and Viola Wilson. She was a retired secretary for Tom’s Heat & Air in Van Buren, and a member of Catcher Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Newton; a sister, Sue Branch; two brothers, Buddy and James Wilson; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Sharnas and Marion Newton.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Dennis and husband Ben of Roland, and Debra West of Booneville; a son, Larry Newton and wife Salena of Fort Smith; three brothers, Tommy Wilson, Billy Wilson, and Bobby Wilson all of Van Buren; twelve grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gill Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will Brandon Purchase, Daniel Clark, Eddie Woolsey, Kenny Wormke, Wayne Wilson, and Ben Dennis.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her daughter-in-law, Salena; and granddaughters, Misty Clark and Lessley Purchase.
